Nine Years
After playing flag-football everyday at recess for the first 4 months of school, Nate knew that's what he wanted to do for his 9th birthday. This birthday story could be about the nervousness we felt inviting all the boys from Nate's school class, Cub Scout Pack, and Primary class to the same place at the same time. It might be about how my mom was in town for this perfect birthday weekend and helped so much. Or the story could be about the football shaped cupcake pans my friend let me borrow. Or about finding the perfect blue-double-light-saber...just what he wanted. But, actually the best part of this story is that we were depending on good weather. We couldn't bring 15 third graders to our apartment in the rain, and playing football in a church gymnasium just isn't the same. So all week while the forecast showed rain, our prayers tried to show faith. And now we know Heavenly Father cares about little boys and their birthdays because by party-time the weather could not have been better.
No wind, no rain, no mud...it was perfect conditions for flag-football.

Nate was a team captain and picked his brother
to be on his team. I love this picture where he has his hands
on Ben's shoulders...like he's watching out for him.
During the party Jason played referee.
During the party, Ben felt like a big kid with the 3rd graders and drank Gatorade.
During the party Emily ate Doritos and played on the swings.
Here is Adam giving everyone a "thumb's up." During the party,
he hung out in the stroller with my mom and walked around the park.
Happy Birthday, Nate the Great!!

He CAN'T be 9 already! That means Allie will be 9 in 2 weeks. I'm not ready! : )
Happy Birthday Nate! And by the way, nice shirt! I love the Colts! I had the exact same shirt, but it's made for little boys, so I gave it to my brother:)
