Earrings

Yesterday, the boys went to their first day of school and Emily went to the mall....to get her ears pierced. She picked out a tiny pair of pink, sparkly studs and then sat up straight in the chair. The lady pinched the first one in and when she stepped away to get the next one, Emily looked at me for a second with sad eyes like she wanted to cry.

But it was just for a second. Because then I watched her grab onto the chair, close her eyes and hold on tight. She was brave and happy. And I'm so glad we did it. This is one of my favorite, unforgettable "mommy/daughter" memories.

Afterwards, we celebrated with a cinnamon pretzel and strawberry lemonade.

Oh she's so darling and brave! I can't tell my girls though- they would be so jealous!
