All our stars aligned and the day before Jason's surgery, the kids didn't have to go to school. We let him choose how to spend our "last day" together and he decided to go on a drive, go on a hike, and eat lunch at Alice's.
It was perfect!
Here is Adam calling out to the boys and listening for them to answer.
It was perfect...until the insurance people called and told us the surgery (the one scheduled for the very next day, the one both our parents had rearranged their lives for, the one we had stocked our shelves and fridge getting ready for, the one we put everything on hold for) hadn't been approved and we wouldn't be covered. Great!
Needless to say, the magic wore off and reality set in during lunch. Lots of phone calls later, everything worked out and then the hospital called and said to come at 5:30 a.m. instead of 1:30p.m. That's when I realized I wasn't ready. That's when I started crying.

I hope Jason is doing much better! Sounds like a rough thing to go through, I'm glad you had good family and friends there to help out. Hugs!!
Love these pictures! Sounds like a great day and so glad Jason is doing better! Sad we couldn't meet up over the Holidays. Let's hope for the summer!
