First Day of School

Haven't we all posed this pose?

For me the first day was all about the outfit. My favorite "first day" was 4th grade. I had some khaki, corduroy overalls that I loved from the moment I bought them to the moment bleach splashed on them and they became khaki, corduroy with little white spots. 6th grade was good too. That year I kept with the overall theme...bright red this time, but the shirt had ruffled sleeves and my pigtails finished off the classic look.

Fortunately my boys did not take after their mom in this way. Fortunately they didn't spend the summer planning what they would wear to see their friends for the first time since June. Fortunately my boys are happy to put on whatever is laid out for them. I guess you could say I've come a long way...either that or you could say I have three kids and can't use up brain space for anything other than trying to get some clothes clean...whichever...Emily on the other hand, she's a shoe girl.

NATE - First day of 1st Grade - Mrs. Scott
(Glad that Theo, from last year, is in his class)

BEN - First day of "Young Fives" - Miss Lissa
(Putting together the big barn puzzle)

EMILY - First day of having some alone time with mom
(Trying to get in on all the picture-taking)

Janet,
You're such a good mom. Nate was sooo excited to start school that it didn't even occur to me to do an "end of summer" celebration with him. He would have loved it. I'll have to do that next year for sure. The pictures of your kids are so fun and how do you remember what you wore the first day of school in 4th grade and 6th grade? Please tell me you looked at your old photos. I have no clue what I wore! Love you!

Boys you look so darn handsome! Emily is of course adorable. Janet I was waiting for you to do a flashback of all your old pictures. Nice telling us about them but let us see them. I love you all!!
